Film Director, Thought Leader, & Nature Therapy Guide
Sylvie is a certified Forest Bathing guide, mindfulness teacher, and Emmy nominated filmmaker with a passion to heal, inspire, motivate and transform. She leads workshops, retreats, and courses at institutions such as Esalen and 1440 Multiversity, guiding participants to experience the healing power of nature through Forest Bathing, mindfulness, and nature meditations.
Narrated by Liam Neeson, her film Love Thy Nature earned 27 awards and has helped viewers realize that the illusion of separation from the natural world is at the root cause of our dire human condition.
Through Sylvie’s teachings, participants don’t just connect with nature, they come to realize that they are nature – and that realization unleashes the potential for deep healing and personal transformation. As a result, they often take home a sense of belonging, joy, purpose, and a desire to help protect our spellbinding world.
Forest Bathing is the translation of Shinrin Yoku – the Japanese practice of mindfully communing with the forest – which studies have shown to improve physical, mental, and emotional health. Inspired by Shinrin Yoku, our Nature/Forest Bathing practice takes you to forests, mountains, or beaches to help you deepen your connection with the natural world, others, and yourself.
On a forest bathing (or nature therapy) walk, your guide offers sensorial “invitations,” leading you to slow way down, cultivate a sense of presence, and explore relationships with other beings. As your senses awaken, nature reveals itself to you in astounding ways.
This nature-connection practice not only promotes healing, but also stimulates creativity, inspires wonder, and kindles realizations. Through council, each person can share their insights with the group – while others practice attentive, non-judgmental listening. A tea ceremony with harvested leaves from the land closes the experience in the spirit of gratitude.
Through this practice, most people feel a deeper bond with nature than they had ever felt before. While experiences are unique to each person, participants often share that their stress dissolves, emotions surface, confusion lifts, and ideas spring – taking home a renewed sense of joy, meaning and purpose.
On a meditation walk, sit, or movement, your guide offers you tools to help you release stories about the past or worries about the future. Instead, you take a journey into the infinity of the present moment. You discover a world of feelings and sensations, in constant motion like a river.
When in nature, your mindfulness practice deepens to new realms – as a universe of events evokes wondrous intimacy: the melodic whistle of a bird lands in your ears like a love song; the scent of moist soil awakens your nostrils with delight; a breeze caressing your face fills you with warmth.
Our events guide you how to anchor a mindfulness practice – which studies have shown to decrease anxiety, reduce reactivity, improve well being, and heighten a sense of connection and belonging to yourself, others, and the world.
